The American Chestnut, known for its strength and size, fell victim to blight in the early 1900’s. Although 3% of the population survived and are regenerating and reforestation has begun in Appalacia, it will be decades before trees reach maturity. Therefore, this unique Antique wood is only available from the reclamation of barns and rural dwellings. So rich in color and character, the Antique Chestnut Wide Plank Floor speaks its historic origins the most of all the reclaimed wide plank floors. Master craftsman use this Reclaimed wood to create timeless furniture and stalwart interior and exterior plank doors that enhance the beauty of this Antique wood complete with wormholes and knots.

Qualities of the hand selected grade consists of some color variations, starting with the medium tones and working into the darker, deep rich tones. It is common to find some work and nail holes. The grain and coloring show why the Antique American Chestnut is so desireable. |
The character grade consists of larger variations in color, working from the lightest through the darkest of tones. The nail and worm holes tend to be more pronounced with some checking allowed, reminding us of the years gone by. |
