New England Revival Federal (1780-1830)
The prosperity in the post revolutionary years was reflected in the architecture. The homes were larger in scale and there was refinement of proportions and details.
The fireplace wall, if paneled, was symmetrical and defined with detailed mouldings surrounding the fireplace. Crowns, castings, chair rails and baseboards with plastered walls replaced the pine sheathing and wainscot of the past.
The New England Revival Federal room setting reflects the Federal Parlor with mouldings of the period and a Rufus Porter inspired wall mural and fireboard. The stained and stenciled pine floor is reminiscent of aged pumpkin pine.
