This Old House
The Bingham family is proud of our 63 year journey in the lumber business and is honored to have been featured on the 2009 season of PBS' "This Old House."
Norm Abram and the This Old House crew visited and filmed our showroom, milling and finishing facility as we completed the interior wall sheathing for the amazingly unique Bensonwood Timberframe Home in Weston, MA.
Antique 14" Eastern White Pine shiplap with a single bead was painted and subtly aged to create the vertical wainscot, 8" matched Eastern White Pine was also aged painted and installed horizontally above the wainscot.
The three story stairwell was sheathed in antique spruce planking. Bingham Lumber's finishing shop developed a technique with various stains to simulate aged red barn board. Not an easy task to recreate 100 years of weather in paint, but the result was stunning. Several interior doors were crafted from the red barn board as well.
All in all it was an incredible experience, one that Bingham Lumber won't soon forget.
